Nestled in the lush greenery of Cañas, Alaya is an oasis of luxury and tranquility. Alaya Panama is Panama’s first luxury glamping resort and retreat. Surrounded by lush rainforest, Alaya offers a luxurious experience in close contact with nature.

The campsite owner wanted to create a fully functional wellness resort. So after careful planning and design by Glitzcamp, it was decided to create a special project in the woods of Vía Isla Cañas. The dome tents at the Alaya Panama resort center can not only be used as accommodation but also as a multifunctional activity center. Glitzcamp uses domes to divide different activities. We set up Dome luxury suites, reception, fitness center, luxury yoga retreat, dorms and other places to provide you with a comprehensive opportunity to relax and rejuvenate.

Create the Best Resorts in Panama with Lamella Dome

Why choose dome tents to build a Panama resort?
Curves give people a soft and novel feeling compared to the traditional straight lines. So we chose domes to build resorts in Panama.
The structure of the domes is divided into the geodesic dome and the lamella dome. The difference between the two lies in the structure. We chose lamella domes because of their beauty, affordability, etc. The following is a detailed explanation of why we chose the lamella dome.

Elegant Appearance

There will be a question, why not choose the same shape of geodesic dome? In terms of appearance, there are still differences between the two. The surface of the lamella dome gives people a regular feeling. These parallel lines give the lamella dome a simple and powerful appearance, as shown in the right picture. The lines of a geodesic surface are not parallel, as shown in the left picture.

Economical

Compared to the geodesic dome, the lamella dome is cheaper. The lamella domes use fewer rods to build than geodesic domes of the same size. So its own cost and transportation cost will be lower.
Transparent tarpaulin will inevitably turn yellow after long-term use, and its service life is 1-3 years. The split design makes it easy to replace the transparent part, saving costs for Panama resort owners.

Stable Structure

The lamella dome used by Panama resorts adopts a modular design. It is easy to build and disassemble, and is very suitable for temporary or semi-permanent construction needs of campsites.
Q235 steel is used as the frame; the design wind load is 100 km/h and the snow load is 0.5 kn/㎡. The rods are innovatively designed with flattened ends, which is more stable. This time the site is in Panama, so standard wind load and snow load are used. If you need higher stability, you can contact Glitzcamp for customization.

Energy Saving

The partially transparent structure of the Panama resort dome tent facilitates natural ventilation and lighting. It reduces the reliance on artificial lighting and air conditioning, further improving energy efficiency. Lines and light and shadow interweave to create a space that is both dreamy and realistic.

Panama Jungle Wonders in Panoramic View

The lamella dome of Panama resorts incorporates the use of transparent materials, which greatly enhances the sense of transparency of the space and provides residents with an unprecedented view. It is a picture frame of nature, presenting the outside world in the most real and vivid way. It connects residents with the original jungle beauty of Panama.
During the day, the sun jumps between the treetops, and the space of the lamella dome of Panama resorts seems to have become a flowing light and shadow gallery. At night, the Milky Way and stars twinkle overhead.

Challenges of Building Panama Resorts

Building an all inclusive resort in Panama deep in the jungle is not easy. We overcame a series of complex technical challenges to ensure the comfort of resort guests.

Climate Issues: Challenges of Tropical Rainforest

Panama is located in the tropical rainforest belt, where the climate is hot and humid, and the annual rainfall is abundant. High humidity and frequent rainfall may cause wood to rot and metal to rust. We use Q235 steel and perform hot-dip galvanizing on the surface. The weather resistance of steel is improved, and effective moisture-proof and anti-corrosion measures are taken. The service life of the resort is guaranteed.
The high-temperature environment of the tropical rainforest also puts higher requirements on the ventilation and cooling system of Panama resorts. The PVC tarpaulin of the tent itself is not ventilated. To solve the stuffiness problem, we use a solar extractor fan to ensure the dome’s normal ventilation. Keep each tent dry and comfortable, and will not breed mildew and bacteria due to moisture.

Ecological Protection

How to build the best all inclusive resort in Panama without damaging the ecological environment? We were asked to consider minimizing the impact on the local ecology at the beginning of planning and adopting eco-friendly architectural concepts and technologies. We chose to use decks to reduce the impact on vegetation. The dome is made of recyclable metal materials. The dome we produce and build has a service life of up to 15 years and does not need to be replaced frequently, which contributes to environmental protection. The dome is designed to be easily disassembled and can be removed when the resort is closed, thus protecting the original ecological environment.

Safety and Hygiene

Insects and diseases in tropical rainforest areas pose a potential threat to the safety and health of guests. We use glass windows with coated mesh covers to effectively prevent insects from entering while achieving ventilation.

Alaya Panama is a jungle retreat where serenity meets luxury!
My ocean view dome(how remarkable are those! It’s like sleeping outside without the stiff back!) had an 8-9 foot large window and a spacious deck where I spent my nights just star gazing in my private net lounge(like the ones in a catamaran). I actually dozed off one evening providing one of my most restful sleep.
