Case Background

The farm in Waitomo has been in the Christen family since 1900. Christen’s father Peter founded the local museum. Christen contacted us to order a Dome to build a camping site for his tourism business Wai Dome O Peak and Wai Dome O Point.
The views here are unparalleled and they generously share everything they have with their guests. A 5-minute drive from the camping site are the famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves. Stroll across the Mangapohue Natural Bridge to see oyster fossils in the limestone arches. Glamping in New Zealand is not only accompanied by beautiful scenery, but also historical wonders.

The Charm of New Zealand Waitomo

Tourists love New Zealand Waitomo for its various wonders. Do you also want to have a luxury glamping in New Zealand? Let’s take a closer look at its main features.

Geological Landscape

The famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves. These caves have stalactites and stalagmites, as well as underground rivers. In addition to the caves, there are rolling hills around the area. You can switch between different landforms and watch the sunrise or sunset while hiking or walking in the mountains.

Natural Ecological Environment

The Waitomo area is relatively quiet. Camping here is not disturbed by city lights, and you can see the bright starry sky at night. During the tour, you can see birds unique to New Zealand, such as kiwis, and various rare plants.

Convenient Transportation

There are a certain number of well-equipped campsites in the area, providing basic living facilities such as toilets, shower facilities, kitchen areas, etc. Although Waitomo is located in nature, unlike most natural attractions, it has convenient transportation. It is well connected to major cities and transportation hubs in the surrounding area, and self-driving is a very convenient choice.

Cultural and Historical Experience

The Waitomo area has a deep Maori cultural heritage. Visitors can visit Maori villages and learn about the history, traditional customs and art of the Maori people. Watch the wonderful singing and dancing performances of the Maori people and learn about the traditional Maori handicrafts. Through these experiences, you can deeply experience the unique charm of Maori culture. Coming here is not only a spiritual healing, but also a learning experience of a new culture.

Why Does Glamping in New Zealand Need to Choose a Dome?

There are many luxury tents on the market, but why do you choose a dome as your accommodation for glamping in New Zealand? Let’s find out.

Good View

The dome has a large area of transparent material. Its open design allows campers to see the sunrise and sunset. The transparent design on the top also allows you to lie in bed and take in the magnificent scenery around you. Near the Waitomo campground, it is surrounded by majestic mountains. At sunrise, the peaks are dyed golden, and the dome allows you to watch without any obstruction.

Spacious Space

The dome has a spacious interior. Compared with traditional tents, it can provide campers with more room for activities. The spacious dome can accommodate comfortable large beds, sofas, tables and chairs and other furniture. Glitzcamp also has a separate lounge and dining area. There is even an outdoor bathtub, so you can relax while enjoying the beautiful scenery. The spacious design prevents you from feeling depressed due to the cramped space.

Construction Challenges

Building a campsite is more than just building a dome. We communicated with the campsite owner and customized this tent according to the local climate.

Large Temperature Difference

Glitzcamp’s dome uses advanced materials and technology. New Zealand has a changeable climate, with a large temperature difference between morning and night. The dome can effectively block the cold or hot air from the outside. We added insulation sheets to the dome, which has good thermal insulation performance.

Strong Winds

New Zealand often has strong winds and other weather conditions. Glitzcamp suggested Christen adopt a circular dome design. Its circular structure can evenly disperse wind force and reduce the impact of strong wind on the tent. Even in strong winds, the tent will not be easily blown down or damaged. However, in daily use, when encountering bad weather, campsite owners should still pay attention to checking and repairing the tent.

Good Waterproof Performance

New Zealand has abundant rainfall. In the case of frequent rainfall, the dome can effectively prevent rainwater from leaking. The best glamping dome in New Zealand must have good waterproof performance. Glitzcamp’s dome uses high-performance PVC waterproof tarpaulin. Glitzcamp has specially treated the seams for an excellent waterproof effect.

Summary

Glitzcamp helped Christen build a camping site in New Zealand, contributing to his camping business. Our tents are spacious and well-equipped. The good view ensures high satisfaction of tourists. We have taken corresponding solutions to New Zealand’s strong winds, rainstorms and temperature differences, ensuring that camping site owners are worry-free.
