Case Background
Camping in Maze is located in Houshantou, Madian Village, Datang Town, Zhuji City, Zhejiang Province, and is built around the charm of rural simplicity. The area is covered with dense forests, lush vegetation, and abundant water resources, with high levels of fresh air rich in negative ions. It has now become a natural large family tent camping destination, offering a blend of sightseeing, entertainment, hands-on activities, learning, leisure, wellness, and vacation experiences.
The campground owner, Qi Faming, rented this 43-acre mountainous area 15 years ago, planting over 1,000 bayberry trees and closing off the mountain for forest protection, laying the foundation for what is now a campground that harmonizes with nature. He said, “I always wanted to create a project that focuses on people, especially children, and I eventually decided on a maze-themed playground.”
As the plan developed, a maze playground emerged within the bayberry forest, featuring four different mazes: a rope maze, a tea tree maze, a mirror maze, and a climbing maze. With more and more families visiting, the lack of nearby accommodations became an issue, as many families had to bring their tents or drive back the same day. Realizing this wasn’t sustainable for the campground’s growth, Qi Faming partnered with Glitzcamp to develop lodging facilities for the site.
Diverse Family Tent Camping Experiences
Qi Faming told Glitzcamp, “Most family camping sites focus on RVs, but we want to create something truly unique for family-friendly camping. Just like the ever-changing mazes here, we want our camping experience to stand out.”
Diverse Tent Types
Determined to offer a one-of-a-kind family tent camping experience, Qi Faming worked with Glitzcamp to design and provide four different large family camping tents for the project, each tailored to meet various family needs.
PVC Dome: The PVC dome tent features a distinctive triangular frame and a near-hemispherical structure, offering both stability and visual appeal. The pillar-free interior allows for flexible layout options, and the large transparent floor-to-ceiling windows give family guests breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and starry skies. The tent is covered with durable, waterproof, UV-resistant 850g/m² opaque PVC and 950g/m² transparent PVC materials. Its galvanized steel frame ensures strong structural support and corrosion resistance.
Oval Dome: Made with the same high-quality materials as the PVC dome, the oval dome has a design resembling half an egg. Its elongated interior space mimics the layout of traditional rectangular buildings, offering more flexibility for interior design. This streamlined shape is especially popular with families camping with children.
Glass Dome: Similar in structure to the PVC dome, the glass dome uses 0.76mm PVB tempered laminated glass for a 360-degree panoramic view. Its lightweight, corrosion-resistant aluminum frame makes transportation and assembly easier while extending the tent’s lifespan. The large family camping tent also features 360-degree curtains, providing privacy whenever family guests need it.
Three Peak Luxury Lodge Tent: The three peak luxury lodge tent is the largest and most luxurious in the peak luxury lodge tent series. It’s made with 1050 g/m² PVDF stretch membrane and a sturdy aluminum frame, offering a lifespan of over 15 years. The striking three-peak design brings a charming rustic look and draws attention. With a spacious 112-square-meter interior and a pillar-free design like dome tents, it maximizes usable space for the family. Nestled in the bayberry forest, this tent is perfect for high-end families seeking a luxurious outdoor family tent camping experience.

In addition to offering high-end tent setups, Glitzcamp has carefully designed a complete range of luxury amenities for “Camping in Maze.” Each tent is equipped with hotel-quality facilities, including a plush king-size bed, private bathrooms, hot and cold water, and both air conditioning and heating. This ensures that families can enjoy the fun of camping while also having all the comforts of home, making their stay both comfortable and convenient.

Maze Experience: The maze features over 300 doors that open and close randomly, ensuring that the paths change constantly and won’t repeat for ten years. Every visit offers new adventures for both adults and children. Inside the maze, visitors can enjoy the cool shade of trees, stroll along mountain paths, pick fresh fruits, breathe in the fresh air, listen to birds chirping, and take in the beautiful scenery.
Qi Faming says, “Life is like a maze; we spend the first half searching for the entrance and the second half looking for the exit. Playing in the maze not only teaches kids how to handle setbacks but also helps them develop a positive outlook on life. For children, a maze is like golf is for businesspeople. It allows them to connect with nature, get some exercise, make friends, and gain knowledge.”
Jungle Tribe: This area is designed specifically for kids, featuring a two-meter-high “magic net” that acts like a trampoline in the trees, which kids absolutely love.
Squirrel Paradise: This zone is packed with entertainment options for children, allowing strangers to quickly become friends as they play together all day long.
Forest Oxygen Bar: Adults can relax here, playing mahjong while spending quality time with their kids, enjoying a laid-back family atmosphere.
Starlit Restaurant: The dining environment is unique, offering a menu filled with natural ingredients, homemade dishes, and fresh wild foods. Local specialties from Zhuji, roasted whole lamb, and various mountain delicacies create an unforgettable dining experience.
Challenges
While planning these tent facilities, Glitzcamp faced two major challenges:
Transport and Setup: Camping in Maze is nestled deep within a vast, dense forest with complex terrain, making it impossible for cranes to access the area. This created significant difficulties for transporting and setting up large family camping tents. To tackle this issue, Glitzcamp used a modular design, breaking down the large tents into smaller packages that could be accurately delivered to the site and quickly assembled.
Ecological Protection: Qi Faming emphasized the importance of preserving the ground vegetation, wanting to avoid disturbing even a single thorn. To maintain the natural ecosystem of the mulberry grove, Glitzcamp constructed the tent facilities in the gaps between trees or made adjustments without altering the original layout, ensuring that no plants were harmed. We proposed a platform-building solution that involved placing a few support posts in the ground, allowing the tents to be elevated to an ideal height. This way, we can protect plant growth while providing residents with a broader view of the outdoors and a closer connection to nature.
